How to add a key to Happ

To add a key to Happ, copy your subscription link, tap + in the top-right corner of the main screen and import from the clipboard. A list of servers appears within a few seconds. If you only have a QR code or a single vless:// line, the same + menu handles those too.

Trial access after sign-up: 100 GB, 2 devices, no card needed. Or via the Telegram bot.

Step by step

How to add a subscription link to Happ

Importing a working link from the clipboard and checking that the server list arrived.

  1. Copy the link with the copy button

Selecting the text by hand often drops the last character or adds a space, and the app then rejects the link.

  2. Open the add menu

In Happ, tap + in the top-right corner of the main screen.

  3. Import from the clipboard

Choose the clipboard option and allow clipboard access if your phone asks.

  4. Wait for the server list

The app fetches the link and fills in the servers. An empty list means nothing usable came back.

  5. Connect and test

Pick any server, switch the connection on and open two different websites.

Before you start: what a key looks like

A Happ key comes in one of two shapes.

A subscription link looks like https://provider-domain/sub/long-identifier. The app fetches it and receives the current list of servers. When the provider changes servers, your list updates on its own. The identifier is the secret part: whoever has the link can connect.

A single config is one line starting with vless://, vmess:// or trojan://. It describes exactly one server and stops working when that server goes away.

Do not paste the address of your provider’s dashboard page. That is a web page, not a subscription, and Happ will answer with “Unknown content type”.

Method 1: from the clipboard

This is the most reliable way on every platform.

  1. In your provider’s dashboard or bot, press the copy button next to the link.
  2. Open Happ and tap + in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose the clipboard import.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the servers to appear.

If Happ says the clipboard is empty, the copy never registered. Some phones clear the clipboard when you switch apps, so go straight from copying to Happ. The full explanation is on the “Clipboard is empty” page.

Method 2: by QR code

Useful when the link is open on a computer and you need it on your phone, or when the clipboard keeps failing.

  1. Show the subscription QR code in your provider’s dashboard.
  2. In Happ, tap + and choose to scan a QR code.
  3. Point the camera at the screen.

Scanning skips the clipboard entirely, so it also works around clipboard errors.

Some providers give a link that starts with happ://. Tapping it opens Happ and hands over the subscription in one step. Encrypted links start with happ://crypt. Open them only from a source you trust: you cannot see what is inside before importing.

Method 4: a single vless:// line

  1. Copy the whole line, from vless:// to the very end.
  2. In Happ, tap + and import from the clipboard.
  3. Check that no space or line break slipped in — chat apps like to wrap long lines.

A single line works until that one server stops responding. If your provider offers a subscription link, use that instead.

How to tell it worked

A list of servers appears, usually several entries named after countries. Pick one and connect. When the tunnel is up, a VPN icon shows in the status bar.

If the list is empty, the app got nothing usable back. Copy the link again and retry on a different network. If Happ waits and then reports a timeout, the provider’s server did not answer in time — see “Timeout while adding a subscription”.

When Happ rejects the key

In order of likelihood:

  1. Copied incompletely. Copy again with the button, not by selecting.
  2. A space or a line break inside. Usually added by a messenger on the way.
  3. The subscription has expired or been revoked. Check its status where you got it. Public keys die fastest: here is why.
  4. The provider’s server is down. Try again in a few minutes.

Each error message Happ shows points at a different stage. The list of Happ error messages explains what every one of them means.

Where to get a key

Happ itself does not sell or hand out servers. A key comes from a public source, a free trial or a paid subscription from a separate service. A free trial is the quickest way to check that everything above works on your own device before paying for anything.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Where do I paste the key in Happ?

Tap + in the top-right corner of the main screen and choose to import from the clipboard. There is no separate key field: the key goes in through that menu.

Is a Happ key the same as a subscription link?

Usually, yes. Most services hand out a subscription link that starts with https:// and pulls a list of servers. A single vless:// line is one server and has to be replaced by hand when it dies.

Can I use one key on my phone and my laptop?

Yes, if the service allows two simultaneous connections. Add the same link on each device.

Why does Happ say the subscription URL is not valid?

Most often the link was copied incompletely or picked up a space or a line break on the way. Copy it again with the copy button and import it straight away.

Does Happ come with free keys?

No. Happ is a client without servers of its own. Keys come from a separate service, a public source or a free trial.
