Happ error “Clipboard is empty”

The app looked at the clipboard at the moment you pressed import and found nothing there. It is a report about your device, not about your subscription — the link is fine, it just never made it into the clipboard.

Step by step

Getting the link into the clipboard reliably

Steps that avoid the usual ways a copy silently fails.

  1. Use the copy button

Your service almost certainly has one next to the subscription link. It copies the whole string, which hand-selection often does not.

  2. Switch to Happ immediately

Some systems clear the clipboard when other apps take over, so do not take a detour through a browser or a chat.

  3. Import right away

Use the add-subscription action while the copy is still fresh.

  4. If it fails again, use a QR code

Scanning does not involve the clipboard, so it sidesteps the problem entirely.

What the app is telling you

Happ reads the clipboard only at the moment you ask it to import. If the clipboard is empty at that instant, you get this message and nothing else happens — no request, no parsing, no contact with any server.

That is why this error is good news relative to the others: nothing is wrong with your access. The gap is between copying and pasting.

What breaks the copy

The usual causes, in the order we see them:

The copy did not happen

A long-press selection menu that dismissed itself, or a tap that landed slightly off the button. There is no confirmation on most platforms, so a failed copy looks the same as a successful one.

Something cleared it in between

Both mobile systems allow apps to overwrite the clipboard, and some password managers and clipboard managers clear it deliberately after a short delay for security reasons.

You copied from a preview

Chat apps and mail clients sometimes let you copy a shortened display version of a link rather than the whole address.

If it keeps happening

Skip the clipboard. A QR code from your provider’s dashboard imports the same subscription without it, and a happ:// deeplink opens the app with the data already attached.

If the paste does go through and a different message appears afterwards, that is progress — the app has something to work with now. Match the new wording against the list of messages.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

I definitely copied the link. Why is it empty?

Most often the copy did not register — a long-press menu that closed early, or an app that clears the clipboard when it goes to the background.

Does this mean my subscription is broken?

No. Nothing was sent anywhere. The app never got as far as reading an address.

Can I add a subscription without the clipboard at all?

Yes. Scanning a QR code or opening a deeplink both bypass the clipboard entirely.
